Shonna Skarda,

Shonna Skarda, CALT

Shonna received her B.A. in English and B.A. in Linguistics from The University of Texas at El Paso. She received her M.A. in English from The University of Texas at Austin. Shonna completed her training in Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia at Scottish Rite Dyslexia Center of Austin in 2014. After graduation, she opened a private practice and she currently offices in north Austin. Shonna sees adults in 1:1 in-person and virtual settings. She sees students in individual and group settings, in-person and virtual. Therapy sessions provide support in dyslexia remediation, pre- and early reading skills, Executive Functions, and Reading Comprehension deficits. Dyslexia and dysgraphia screenings are available by appointment, and phone consultations are available anytime. Shonna is happy to answer questions as well as provide resources and referrals for other local professionals.
 
Shonna Skarda is licensed by The State of Texas (License No. 2094). She served as a Board Member of the International Dyslexia Association-Austin for four years. Shonna helped develop and then was Program Coordinator for Dyslexia Center of Austin's afterschool program, which provided free dyslexia therapy to underserved communities in partnership with Boys and Girls Club of the Austin Area. Shonna is a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association and the International Dyslexia Association.

Lisa Treviño,

Licensed Dyslexia Therapist

Lisa Treviño is a graduate of Texas A&M University and currently works in Manor ISD as a reading interventionist.  She is certified in bilingual education and special education and holds a Master of Education in Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.  In her 21-year career as an educator, Lisa has served as an elementary bilingual education teacher, instructional coach, and 504 & dyslexia specialist.  

 

Lisa completed Academic Language Therapy Training through the Dyslexia Center of Austin and is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Licensed Dyslexia Therapist trained in Take Flight.  She is a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association.  Lisa provides private dyslexia therapy after school and throughout the summer and is passionate about helping students become strong, confident readers and writers.
